Description

BACHELOR’S BUTTON

This cornflower blue colorway has undertones of purple and is dyed on Incyanity‘s springy and soft bulky weight 3-ply Solitude base:

● 100% superwash merino
● 106 yards (97 meters)
● 100 gram (3.5 ounce) hank

This chunky yarn is the perfect choice for heavy sweaters, toques, scarves, mittens, cowls, and more! You’ll be sure to stay warm and cozy in winter while wearing items made with it. Best of all, bulky yarn works up quick so your projects will be done in no time!

Solitude has 3 plies, and plies mean longevity: less pilling, less strand breakage, and less thinning. Plus, those plies mean you’ll see fat, full stitches!

Although superwash yarn can be machine washed and tumble dried on low, for best results wash items by hand and lay flat to dry.

Incyanity yarn is hand-dyed and rinsed in a clean, pet-free, and smoke-free environment in Cochrane, Alberta, Canada.

INSPIRATION PHOTO

The flower is Centaurea cyanus, also known as the Bachelor’s Button or Cornflower. This flower is edible! It’s sometimes used to add color to salads but can also be used for tea. Goldfinches like their seeds, too. These flowers are originally native to Europe but are now grown all over the world. They got their common name because they often grew in cornfields. “Bachelor Button” comes from a tradition where young men would wear them when in love. Folklore says that if the flower wilted too quickly, the bachelor’s love was unrequited. Bachelor’s Buttons also come in white, pink, lavender, and dark maroon varieties. This specimen was growing in the garden at the resort on Vancouver Island where I stayed for my wedding.

SHARING

Please share your work by tagging me (@IncyanityNet on Instagram or Twitter) and with the hashtag #Incyanity so I can see your projects! You could be featured in my feed!

Incyanity is also on Ravelry.

Every effort is made to depict skein color accurately but actual shades may vary due to differences in monitor settings.

Each skein is also unique: no two will be exactly the same, even when dyed together. For best results, alternate skeins every other round or row.

Don’t forget to order enough yarn for your project!
